Animal café management, made more thoughtful

Shòu Delight: Happy animals. Smoother operations.

One connected system designed to help animal cafés care for their animals, manage the café, and keep the business moving.

The hidden complexity behind the cuteness

Cute in front.
Complex behind the counter.

Some of the team wanted to build for cafés; others loved animals. Animal cafés brought both together, and revealed operations far more complex than a regular café. Three pressures kept coming up.

  1. A small hairless guinea pig standing on wood shavings beside a hay rack.

    Many lives, many routines.

Feeding, grooming and medication are often tracked by hand. When every animal has its own routine, a missed note can mean missed care.

    • Feeding
    • Grooming
    • Medication
  2. Two drinks in carved tiki-style cups beside a chocolate dessert on a patterned café table.

    Two kinds of inventory.

An animal café stocks café food and drinks and pet supplies such as food, toys and medication. Tracked separately, the true cost of running the café is hard to see.

    • Café ingredients
    • Pet supplies
  3. Too many disconnected tools.

Owners can end up juggling as many as four separate places for information: a point of sale, salaries, animal care records, and chat messages for medical notes.

    • POS
    • Salaries
    • Care records
    • Chat notes

The proposed solution

One platform, three worlds.

Shòu Delight is designed as an all-in-one management system, so the animals, the café and the business share one connected record instead of four separate tools.

Animal care

Every animal with a profile, a routine and a history.

  • Pet profiles
  • Feeding & care schedules
  • Health & medical notes
  • Animal-related expenses
Concept animal profiles screen listing example animals with species, age, status and last-fed time, beside a profile preview of an example cat. See the animal profiles concept

Café operations

The counter, the menu and the stockroom in step.

  • Food & beverage sales (POS)
  • Menu items
  • Ingredient & café stock

These areas are proposed and being designed during the incubator programme. They describe what the system is designed to do, not finished, live modules.

Field visit · George Town, Penang

Built from real conversations, not assumptions.

To see the challenge up close, the team travelled to Kucik Kucik, an animal café on Lebuh Campbell in George Town, and presented its prototype to the owner.

  1. Explore the café

Seeing how a working animal café runs: the residents, the counter and the routines that keep both going.

  2. Understand the challenge

The team spoke with the café owner about the difficulty of managing both animal care and daily café operations. Familiar tools, such as a standard café POS or a veterinary record system, tend to cover only one side of the business.

  3. Shape the proposed solution

The owner responded warmly to the idea and was not aware of an all-in-one tool for both sides. It is an encouraging early signal that the team will keep testing, not proof of demand.

Kucik Kucik is an independent café the team visited for research. It is not a customer or partner of Shòu Delight.

The Shòu Delight team gathered around a café table with a tablet, in a selfie taken with the café owner.
